A Nice Shelf of Shakespeare

A Shelf full of fine press Shakespeare

While dusting the library (a continuous, constant process, I’m afraid), I pulled some of the Folio  Society Letterpress Shakespeare editions from their solander boxes to display them for a few days on the shelf. There’s also the Barbarian Press Pericles and a facsimile of the First Folio.

Amazing! You say you took them from their solander boxes, and you also have slipcases for them? It was my understading (though I don’t have any of these volumes) that they were either slipcased or had a solander box, but not both.

I have the version in the solander box with the companion volume. They do not offer the slipcased versions anymore. However, at one point I had inquired about purchasing some slipcases as I was worried about the space the boxes took and wanted to be able to display them occasionally as in the picture. They were kind enough to give me a few of them but as you can see in the picture, I don’t have them for all the books. I don’t recall how long they even offered the slipcases, so I suspect that I may have multiple slipcases made for one book that fit others more or less. Nevertheless, it was gracious of them to send them to me and I am very thankful.
